REAL Life Drawing: My Eye on Washington, DC

Artist Mary Gallagher Stout's REAL Life Drawing series starts in Washington, DC. Her subjects range from famous buildings and monuments to the real people who would be passing by.

All work was painted with acrylics or drawn with pastels and charcoal on pages of the Washington Post to express "real" news over top of the printed news.

Studio 4 Old Town named BEST Gallery 2013 by Washington Post Express

When Gina Cochran, John Gascot and MG Stout founded Studio 4 this spring, they wanted a space where art could be a vehicle for social change. For example, in January’s “Transcend,” Gascot will present his paintings of transgender people; in August, Stout exhibited his depictions of returning veterans. September brought works by autistic children who collaborated with professional artists. “We’re just very community-conscious,” Stout says. E.B.
